National Assembly Speaker Moses Masika Wetang’ula has officially launched the Jitume ICT center at the county assembly offices.

Speaking during the launch, Wetang’ula said the hub will not only facilitate smooth operations at assembly but will also grant workers and MCAs an opportunity to build their digital skills.

“Technology is an inevitable change in the current world and all government departments should steadily acclimatize with it,” he said.

He has urged the assembly leadership to allow residents of the county who are in need of services at the hub to access them without restriction.

“If this is taken as a community amenity, the benefits will be far reaching to residents and will transform lives of many in terms of digital literacy and even earnings,” he added.

His sentiments were reiterated by Bungoma Governor Kenneth Lusaka who acknowledged the efforts being made by the National Government towards enhancing ICT.

Bungoma County Assembly Speaker Emmanuel Situma said the Hub will promote efficiency and reduce manual operations and dependence on paper, what he says will stir a clean environment.

Also present were Kanduyi Mp John Makali, Trade and Industrialization Principal Secretary Juma Mukhwana, John Karanja from Department of ICT, Bungoma Senator Wafula Wakoli and a host of stakeholders.

A total of 100 computers were launched.
