Nairobi, Kenya – In a shocking turn of events, the Facebook account of CITIZEN TV Kenya was hacked through personification by unidentified hackers on Friday evening. The attack on one of Kenya’s most prominent media outlets has sent shockwaves through the country’s media landscape.

According to sources, the hackers gained access to the account by using sophisticated phishing techniques to obtain login credentials from a CITIZEN TV employee. Once inside, the hackers took over the account and posted several fake news stories and false information to CITIZEN TV’s millions of followers.

The network’s management has since issued a statement condemning the hack, and apologizing to viewers for any distress caused by the fake news stories. CITIZEN TV has also assured the public that the necessary measures are being taken to prevent similar incidents from occurring in the future.

“We would like to assure our viewers that CITIZEN TV takes this matter very seriously and we are doing everything we can to identify those responsible for the hack. We have also taken steps to enhance our cybersecurity measures to prevent such attacks in the future,” the statement read.

The incident has sparked concerns about the vulnerability of media outlets to cyber attacks, particularly in an era where news is increasingly being disseminated through digital platforms. This latest attack comes in the wake of a similar attack on a major government agency in Kenya just last month.

As the investigation into the CITIZEN TV hack continues, the network has urged its followers to be vigilant and report any suspicious activity on its social media platforms. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the importance of cybersecurity in the digital age and the need for all organizations to prioritize the protection of their digital assets.
