UK to host tech and global leaders to discuss about AI

UK government is set to host a two-day bsummit event to discuss about Artificial Intelligence(AI). Among the dignitaries expected to grace the summit include The UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, US Vice President Kamala Harris, EU chief Ursula von der Leyen and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. Also in attendance will be Italy’s Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni . The meeting is set to discuss about growing fears and implications of so-called frontier AI. The summit is set to identify rising concerns from job losses, cyber attacks to fear of man losing control of machines which they themselves have designed and manufactured.

UK Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak

The UK Prime Minister Mr Sunak has been in the front line in saying that more safety measures are to be put in place before regulation of AI as the challenges it stands to pose are enormous. In a speech earlier this week the Prime Minister said,”My vision, and our ultimate goal, should be to work towards a more international approach to safety where we collaborate with partners to ensure AI systems are safe before they are released.”He further suggested creation of an international expert panel similar to one formed for climate change.Sunak has said “there can be no serious strategy for AI without at least trying to engage all of the world’s leading AI powers”.

The meeting which will be held at Bletchley Park,home of the National Museum of Computing,known as home to the world’s largest collection of working historic computers. The UK Prime Minister has been on the fore front in saying that AI poses more danger to humans and that why London initiated the talks on Artificial Intelligence in the world.
