NAIROBI, Kenya, June 29 – Safaricom clients will now be able to pay for goods and services using 5G bundles.
The telco has unveiled a new payment model that will see its post-pay and prepaid subscribers access the service with at least 5GB of bundles.
Users will be required to dial *544*34# through their Safaricom lines and will then be prompted to pay the amount keyed in via till numbers or paybills.
A cross-check by Capital Business, however, revealed that the service does not allow one to proceed beyond the dialing code in the event one does not have the no-expiry data limit threshold of 5 gigabytes of Safaricom bundles.
“You are not eligible for this service,“ read a feedback message from Safaricom.
In the new payment model, 500 shillings is equivalent to 7,692.21MBS (7.7GB), while Sh2,000 is equivalent to 30,769.23MBs (30.8GB).
Safaricom has recently been on a charm offensive to hold a tight grip on its customers and lure more customers to use its services by rolling out new solutions.
Not so long ago, the telco launched a new product that allowed users to repay their bills as well as Okoa Jahazi using Bonga Points as well as buy smartphones.
