  • Ken Onyango, the head of operations and transport safety in Nairobi County assured the company of its equivocal support.

A new company – MojaEv Ltd- has joined the growing list of startups introducing new models of electric cars.

This is even as the country moves towards adoption of e-mobility.

The NETA V model targets taxi drivers and can go up to 380 kilometres when fully charged.

During a meeting with the taxi drivers across the country, the company’s marketing executive Annette Githinji said the 2023 model has a capacity of five passengers.

It also has a fast charging time of 30 minutes from 30 to 80 per cent.

“This car comes with two chargers that you get with the car,” she said.

The car further has a configuration of a 14.6-inch touch screen.

Githinji stated that the company is planning to integrate the car with Uber apps and have a collaboration on the same once the Uber driver and taxi association takes it up.

“We are thinking of integrating it to the Uber apps, just like the way there is electric boda in the application,” she said.

Ken Onyango, the head of operations and transport safety in Nairobi County assured the company of its equivocal support.

“The entrance of electric vehicles in the market in Kenya is going to be a game changer reduction of carbon emission,” he said.

Ryan Kangundo, the executive director Digital Transport Federation also noted that the federation stands with the reduction of carbon print in the transport sector.

“The uptake is very high in terms of adoption…the federation embraces this particular transition because of reduction of carbon and the clean energy initiative that align to the climate act,” Kangundo said.
