Controversial content creator Andrew Kibe has won an international award as the Social Media African Star of the Year.
This comes after the South African Social Media Awards nominated the former radio presenter.
Kibe was declared the winner after being on top of other creators like Shank Comics, Nicolette Mashile and William Last.
The former radio presenter was represented at the awards by Tom Mboya who also received the accolade on his behalf.
Through a post on X, Kibe commended his representative as he also acknowledged the team behind the event.
He vowed to launch bigger and better projects onwards.
“Thank you Tom Mboya for the powerful speech. The stage suits you. Ngeo this award belongs to you…You did it. Mac Duke thank you for being our SA plug, we need more Yafreekans like you. Africa Social Media Star of the Year has a nice ring to it,” he said.
“Good job to you and your time for making the stream work under all that pressure. To bigger and better.Yafreeka to the world.”
Months after Kibe’s resignation as a radio presenter, he moved to the United States.
While in the US, he ventured into full-time content creation through his YouTube channel.
Kibe’s nomination for the international award came weeks after the termination of his YouTube channel.
His channel was terminated for allegedly violating community guidelines and policies.
The former KISS 100 radio presenter while expressing his shock for being nominated said:
“In all those years of producing content my first ever nomination and it had to come from outside Kenya,” he said.
Fans and critics quickly flooded Kibe’s comment section.
Some congratulated the American-based content creator while others linked him to a prophet who was never accepted in his home town.
