Thanks to artificial intelligence, tools like Google’s Search Generative Experience (SGE) and Microsoft’s Copilot are changing how we search, learn, and interact with information.

Traditionally, search engines gave users a list of links to explore. Now, with AI models trained on vast amounts of data, search engines can provide summarized answers on top of the page. For instance, instead of getting ten blue links when you search “best laptops for students,” you might now see a short paragraph recommending three options, along with pros, cons, and prices. This saves users time and makes research easier.

It acts like a digital assistant that can compare products, summarize webpages, or even draft emails based on the content you’re viewing. Google, not wanting to be left behind, rolled out SGE in its labs and gradually to more users. These tools are based on large language models—similar to ChatGPT—which can understand context and write human-like responses.

This shift has a big impact on content creators, businesses, and educators. Websites now need to focus on clear, helpful information if they want to show up in AI summaries. It also means users need to become more critical of what they read, since even AI summaries can be wrong or biased.

Despite the progress, there are challenges. AI-generated answers may sometimes cite incorrect sources or leave out details. There are also concerns about reduced website traffic, especially for smaller publishers. Tech companies are working to improve accuracy and include proper citations, but the technology is still evolving.

One thing is clear: AI-powered search isn’t a trend—it’s the future. As these tools improve, users can expect faster, smarter, and more personalized ways to find what they need online. Whether you’re researching a topic, shopping, or solving a problem, the way you search is about to feel a lot more like a conversation.
