Apple is making headlines again—this time not for a new iPhone or MacBook, but for its partnership with OpenAI. In a surprising move, Apple has announced that it will integrate ChatGPT into iOS 18, bringing AI-powered features to millions of iPhones around the world.
The collaboration was revealed during Apple’s 2025 Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC), where the tech giant introduced its vision for “Apple Intelligence.” This includes smarter Siri responses, advanced writing tools, and AI-powered search—all powered in part by ChatGPT.

Instead of building everything from scratch, Apple is using OpenAI’s well-known AI model to improve user experiences without giving up control over user privacy. For instance, Siri will soon be able to ask ChatGPT for help when needed. If you’re drafting an email, editing a photo, or searching for information, Siri may suggest ChatGPT-powered assistance—but only if you allow it.
What’s unique about this integration is Apple’s focus on privacy. According to Apple, user data will remain secure. Requests made to ChatGPT won’t be stored, and users won’t need to create an OpenAI account to access the AI features.
The integration is expected to launch with iOS 18 later this year. At first, it will be optional and free, but Apple hinted that more advanced features could be added in the future for users who subscribe to ChatGPT Plus.
This partnership signals a shift in Apple’s AI strategy. Rather than ignoring or competing with leading AI tools, Apple is embracing collaboration—while still shaping the user experience with its signature design and privacy standards. As other tech giants like Google and Samsung race to launch AI-focused tools, Apple’s move ensures it remains at the center of the conversation.
