Live Translate can convert speech from English into Spanish, French, or Italian. It also supports translation from those languages into English. Users hear the translated speech in their ear. They can also see transcripts in a connected app. This works even when there is no internet, if the user downloads the language pack in advance.
The feature was first limited to Early Access program members late last year. Now it is broadly available to everyone using the latest software update. It runs on v11 of the glasses’ firmware, along with a compatible version of the companion app. The translation tools are fast and work well for basic conversations.

Live Translate uses on-device language packs and cloud-based AI models. That helps keep delays low. It also respects user privacy by not storing microphone audio permanently. The AI models update regularly to improve accuracy.
This update marks an important milestone in wearable AI. It shows how smart glasses can break language barriers seamlessly. Users can talk naturally without pausing or repeating phrases. This is especially useful for travel, work, or multilingual social situations.
Beyond translation, this update paves the way for further AI features. Meta is preparing to release Live AI, a mode where the AI assistant can continuously process what you see. This allows natural, voice‑driven conversations with the AI about your surroundings.
