He emphasized that tech advancements must benefit every corner of society—creating wealth, delivering better public services, and securing quality jobs. Addressing common anxieties about AI’s impact on employment and everyday life, Starmer asserted that embracing technology will actually amplify human potential, helping to put “money in your pocket” and improve lives at home and work.

To back up his vision, Starmer unveiled a bold UK tech investment package: £1 billion directed toward AI infrastructure, including processors and cabling; a government “Extract” AI tool built with Google’s Gemini to overhaul and speed up slow planning processes; and “TechFirst,” a £187 million initiative to teach AI skills in schools. He also announced a commitment to train 7.5 million workers by 2030—equipping the workforce with the tools to succeed in a digital economy.

With Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang joining the keynote in support, the PM underscored Britain’s place in the global AI ecosystem. Huang praised the UK as “the envy of the world” for its deep pool of AI researchers and entrepreneurs. Starmer’s message was clear: sound investment, thoughtful policy, and purposeful skills training will position the UK to lead in the next wave of tech innovation.
