Machakos is quickly emerging as a player in Kenya’s electric mobility revolution following the launch of a new electric motorcycle service hub by Roam at TotalEnergies Mua View station. The facility supports the company’s flagship product, the Roam Air — a robust, affordable, and eco-friendly electric motorcycle designed specifically for Kenyan roads and boda-boda riders.

This new centre offers sales, battery swapping services, rentals, and technical support for electric motorcycles, marking a significant milestone in the push for sustainable transport solutions. The Roam Air, with a range of up to 100 kilometers per charge and minimal maintenance costs, has already attracted attention from local boda-boda riders looking to cut down on fuel expenses while adopting a cleaner mode of transport.
Roam has also partnered with local financial institutions to offer flexible payment and lease-to-own plans, making the shift to electric mobility more accessible for riders in Machakos and surrounding areas. In addition to individual riders, the company is working with local delivery services and small businesses to encourage large-scale adoption of electric two-wheelers.
The launch aligns with Kenya’s national goals for clean energy transition and emission reduction under its Climate Action Plan. Local authorities in Machakos have welcomed the project as both an environmental win and an economic opportunity for the region’s large informal transport sector.
