Threadripper 9000: Unprecedented Core Performance

The Threadripper PRO 9995WX boasts 96 cores and 192 threads, with a base clock of 2.5 GHz and a boost clock up to 5.4 GHz. It features a substantial cache system: 7,680 KB L1, 96 MB L2, and 384 MB L3, ensuring rapid data access for intensive workloads.

Threadripper 9000: Zen 5 Architectural Advancements

Zen 5 architecture introduces significant improvements, including advanced two-ahead branch prediction and a wider execution engine with 6 ALUs and 4 floating-point units. These enhancements result in a 50% increase in integer throughput and expanded vector processing capabilities. The native 512-bit AVX-512 datapath boosts performance in scientific, AI, and media applications.

Threadripper 9000: Superior Connectivity and Memory

Designed for demanding professional environments, the Threadripper PRO 9995WX supports 8-channel DDR5-6400 ECC memory, offering up to 409.6 GB/s bandwidth and a maximum capacity of 2TB. It also provides 128 PCIe 5.0 lanes, facilitating extensive multi-GPU and NVMe storage configurations.

HEDT vs. PRO Variants

AMD’s Threadripper 9000 Series includes both High-End Desktop (HEDT) and PRO workstation models. While both utilize the Zen 5 architecture and share a 350W TDP, PRO models like the 9995WX offer up to 96 cores, 8-channel memory, and 128 PCIe 5.0 lanes. HEDT models are capped at 64 cores, 4-channel memory, and 48 PCIe lanes, catering to enthusiasts seeking high performance without enterprise features.

Threadripper 9000: Benchmarking the Competition

AMD claims the Threadripper PRO 9995WX outperforms Intel’s 60-core Xeon W9-3595X by up to 2.2 times in Cinebench multi-core rendering. In various professional applications, including media, design, architecture, science, and AI inference, the 9995WX consistently delivers superior performance.

Future-Ready Design

The Threadripper PRO 9995WX is engineered for the most demanding workloads, from visual effects and simulations to AI model development. It supports advanced security and manageability features for business environments, while also offering overclocking and memory tuning options for enthusiasts. The processor’s 13-die package, built on TSMC’s 4nm and 6nm process nodes, exemplifies cutting-edge semiconductor engineering. (AMD)

Threadripper 9000: Availability

The Ryzen Threadripper 9000 Series, encompassing both HEDT and select PRO models, will be available from retailers starting July 2025. The Threadripper PRO 9000 WX-Series will also be offered through OEM partners such as Dell, HP, Lenovo, and Supermicro.
